01/07/11 SOCCER TOURNAMENT CHANGED TO SATURDAY 2nd JULY
Portumna Town FC will be hosting a 5 a-side tournament this weekend. It is now scheduled to take place tomorrow (saturday 2nd july) with proceedings getting underway at 10am in the morning. All participating teams are requested to arrive by 9.30am to ensure an on time start. Good luck to all the teams involved!!! The complete schedule can be found below.

 Portumna Town FC held their awards ceremony in the Shannon Oaks on Friday Evening 10th June. Chairperson Chris Nestor of the Midlands Schoolboys League attended to present the awards. The following players received awards on the evening.

05/06/11 PORTUMNA'S U10's TO RECIEVE THEIR SEASONS REWARDS AT AWARDS NIGHT
On saturday 28th of May 2011 the Midlands Schoolboys League had their awards night in Tullamore rugby club. The Portumna Town Under 10's team collected the league cup held by captain Neil Connelly and the cup held by captain Daniel O'Donoghue. Making up the rest of the team delegation were Morgan Walsh, Declan Gorman and Ben Murphy. Well Done to all the panel. The medals and cups will be presented to the U10 squad at our club awards night which will be held on Friday June 10th in the Shannon Oaks Hotel with proceedings getting underway at 6.30pm. All Parents and players are welcome to the night. |
20/05/11 U15's TRIUMPH BRINGS MORE SILVERWARE TO PORTUMNA TOWN
With our Under 11's & Under 15's in semi final and shield final action respectively it has been another fantastic season for these young players. U15's triumphed in their shield final and our U11's narrowly lost their semi final on penalties despite a comeback of Epic proportions. 10/05/11 WOW WHAT A SEASON FOR OUR UNDER 10'S!!!
Portumna Towns U10'S completed the double on saturday by winning the cup on penalties. It was 2-2 at the end of normal time and after extra time.
A full match report of the final will soon be posted alongside some great photographs of this talented bunch of players.

 A good week was had by Portumna Towns last week with the small matter of a Quarter Final against Abbeyleix over 2 legs and an evening of mini matches at Terryland Park home of Galway United on their busy schedule. To see how the Under 10 team got on versus Abbeyleix please see our match reports section and for your enjoyment a selection of pictures from the evening at Terryland which hosted our U7,U8 & U9 panel of players. Some great goals where scored in the mini goals on the night and some spectacular saves kept the Galway crowd entertained at the half time interval. 20/04/11 UNDER 10's GO THROUGH TO FUTSAL QUARTERS !!!
Sunday April 17th saw Portumna Town FC u10's team turn their attention to the Futsal cup in Mountmellick Sports hall. This was the group stages with a place in the knockout stage of the competition up for grabs. Futsal is a very different experience than the traditional outdoor game the boys are used to. It took the Portumna lads the first game to get to grips with the ball and the rules but by then they shone through and won their group. As a result the boys have a cup quarter final to look foward to on Sunday May 8th.

16/04/11 NEW TEAMS ADDED TO TERRYLAND TRIP
Portumna Town would like to announce that our Under 7's, U8's & U9's will all be in Terryland Half Time action this coming 29th April 2011. These half time mini games have taken on a legendary status with goals scored in the mini goals being cheered with great enthusiasm by the Galway United faithful. This Airtricity league games Kick Off is put forward to 7.35pm due to the Galway United v Shamrock Rovers match being televised. |
07/04/11 PORTUMNA TOWN GOING TO TERRYLAND
Portumna Towns Under 9's will be guests of Sean Connors Galway United when they will be playing a half time mini match on 29th April at Terryland Park the home of Galway United who will host high flyers Shamrock Rovers on the night. This will be a fantastic experience for this panel of players who will get to soak up the Big Match atmosphere and play on the hallowed turf of Terryland at an Airtricity Premier League game. A large crowd is expected on the night. Good Luck to these players in their unique experience. |
29/03/11 CELEBRATION PICTURES NOW ONLINE
On Saturday 25th March, Portumna Town U10's squad played their last game in the league and were crowned overall winners and League Champions. Karl Bond, Midlands League Secretary attended and presented the cup to the team captain Neil Connelly. Also the club presented each team member with a jersey with their team number and name on the back as a keepsake. A large crowd turned out today to congratulate the team and their coach Orla. 17/01/11 UNDER 11 MATCH SUMMARY
Portumna Town welcomed Frankford under 11's for this match. This was Portumnas first outing for many weeks due to the christmas break and poor weather and unfortunately it showed. Frankford were the much brighter team and adapted to the conditions much better than Portumna over the course of the match which was played in very poor and windy weather. Final score was 8-2. Hopefully better days will be ahead for the team. |

.JPG) On the pitch today we have match reports from our U10's & U11's who were both in action, other news includes David Flaherty's U12's who were unfortunate to lose 4-2 versus Mucklagh today at Marian Park with Niall Duane scoring an excellent brace for Portumna and the Under 9's were extremely unlucky to lose by the odd goal in a nine goal thriller away to Eyrecourt, with our goals coming from Ian McEvoy & Jack Kelly. Portumna Town's Annual General Meeting will take place on 26th November in the Portumna Retirement Village with proceedings kicking off at 8pm.
